Its organic nature and ability to take distortion pedals well at nearly any setting has turned me from a Tech 21 fan to a Tech 21 superfan. And I actually regularly play through a 2X12 cab loaded with Man O Wars. They work best as preamps into a clean power amp, into real cabs. With a full line of SansAmp models,Tech 21 also offers effect pedals and MIDI products, as well as “traditional” style amplifiers for guitar and bass. I like the Blonde better than the GT2. After expiration,Tech 21 will repair defective unit for a fee. It doesn't have the power handling of the MOWs but it has pronounced crunchy mids. The ability to shape the actual gain and adjust the post and pre gain volume make this unit unique. I have an orange crush head (CR120 - analog amp) and it sounds awesome through the Man O Wars, but it's not really a marshally-middy amp. Finally, the more gain you use the bassier the output will be. I haven't explored the sonic interaction between my guitar volume and the level settings much yet. But the Blonde stayed although I painted it green and purple to cover the medical tan color/silk screening. Or DI into convolution IR's of real cabs. The level and gain work together; if you don't like the sound you're getting you probably need to increase the volume and lowering the gain. I have several, the ART SL-1 is a fav or course it all depends on the speaker rig you have going. I view them as very powerful EQ with mojo. And I want to like the PSA, but some of the online demos have not sounded good to me. Nor do we know what kinds of guitars were used…We only know that the guitar tracks were recorded direct using only a SansAmp Classic and standard studio outboard EQ and reverb equipment. One tip I'd suggest is lowering your guitar volume and moving the level/gain on the Blonde to 12 O'clock and adjust from there. Probably just my old brainwash creeping in.
